On Wednesday night, Green Mountain High School hosted their annual showcase, where students and teachers show the school to incoming students who may go to Green Mountain. Almost every single leadership club was in attendance, along with the Arts team, thespians in upcoming GMHS musical The Addams family, as well as representatives from sports, including Football, Cross Country, Track and Field, Cheerleading, Girls Swimming, Soccer, and Basketball, who were also competing in a doubleheader that night.

The evening was a hit, and many students remarked on how well run the event was this year. Perspective students were treated to tours of the school, STEM demonstrations in the Makerspace, one on one time with the freshman teachers, and a rousing presentation by Principal Owens. One GMHS student remarked, “This event would make me want to go to the school. There seems to be an impressive amount of stuff that I never knew about and go here!” Newer rooms, such as the recording studio, the Library, and the Makerspace were especially popular as they allowed prospective students to see practical real-world uses for what they learn in school.

Parents were equally impressed with the event. Many prospective students and their parents remarked how amazing the school seemed, the large number of activities and clubs, and the rather friendly atmosphere. One parent said, “The students seem especially engaged, and there really seems to be a sense of community. It feels welcoming, and the kind of place that my child could find his place.
