With almost the entire country in quarantine and schools changing to online and remote learning, Americans will be spending a lot more time in their homes because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Without the schedules that come with work or school, some people may be feeling bored or possibly overwhelmed by their newfound freedom. Luckily, there are many fun things that can be done from home that may relieve some of the boredom the COVID-19 quarantine is causing.

Watching shows and movies on Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and other streaming programs is a very common way of passing the time. Whether you’re binge-watching a new series, catching up on current episodes of your favorite show, or rewatching movies and shows from your childhood, there is an abundance of material for people to stream and watch.

There are also things people can do during quarantine that don’t involve technology or sitting in front of a screen, for example, you can do DIY crafts, puzzles, or organize/clean your room. Paint-by-number kits are sold on Amazon and are a fun way to be creative and artistic but don’t require anything besides a cup of water and a space to layout your materials. Puzzles are also a great way to spend time during quarantine and can be done alone or with others. Puzzles can come in many shapes, sizes, and difficulty levels. 500 piece puzzles are great to work on for a couple of hours, whereas 1,000 piece puzzles are better to work on for a longer amount of time. Besides crafts and puzzles, reorganizing and/or cleaning spaces in your house is a great way to busy yourself while also creating a cleaner workspace for when you have to return to work or school.

Although its good to find fun things to do while under quarantine, it is not an excuse to ignore the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic. Washing your hands, using hand sanitizer, and practicing social distancing are just as important as entertaining yourself during the quarantine, but this doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun while also lessening your chance at getting sick.
