Know Their Worth

I am the child of the air
the rough winds that rage
or rustle the wildflowers
light as a song, or a prayer
or fierce as a hurricane
wherever you go
I am there

I am the daughter of the fire
the warmth of the sun
or the wild flames
like a match on a pyre
or a slow, ceaseless burn
wherever you stand
I burn higher

I am the descendant of water
cold as Arctic ice
or like a bubbling spring
I meander, or wander
or silently endure
whoever you are
I am stronger

I am the heir of the earth
Master of fire
and ruler of wind
it is the nature of my birth
conquerer of water
but somehow
I don’t know their worth
